Headteacher's Welcome

Dear parents, carers and children,

Firstly, I would like to send a warm welcome to our very special school. Whether you are starting with us for the first time in reception/nursery or are moving on to your next class family, we want to ensure you and your child have the best start to their school years.

At Common Road Infant and Nursery School we put our children at the centre of all that we do. We want our children to leave our school being able to read, write and be good mathematicians. We want them to grow to be respectful and tolerant members of our community with good hearts and strong minds. All children are special and in our school we will nurture and develop each child’s individual gifts and talents…whatever they may be!

We work hard with our community and have excellent relationships with our families and I look forward to working closely with you and your family on this very exciting chapter of your child’s development, their first school! These are exciting times! I hope that whilst they are with us they are happy, safe, make lots of friends and many special memories that they will remember as they grow.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Danielle Edwards

Headteacher

Celebrate good times...

  • 90% of our children passed the 2025 phonics screening check
  • 86% of our children were reading at the expected standard by the end of Year 2 and 27% reading at greater depth
  • 74% of our children were at the expected standard in writing by the end of Year 2 and 20% at greater depth in writing.
  • 84% of our children were at the expected standard in maths by the end of Year 2 and 27% at greater depth in maths.

This is above all children nationally. What an amazing achievement!
